As the Project Architect for the base building repositioning project, VIVO tailored the property to accommodate the programmatic needs of Life Sciences tenants. This intimate knowledge of the building and its systems paired with unmatched expertise in the Life Science market made VIVO a natural choice to assist VOR with their new space. The facility comprises two on-floor mechanical rooms to support the labs. The VIVO design team worked with an acoustical consultant to minimize disruption to the nearby work areas.

VOR Biopharma specializes in cell therapies to make targeted cancer treatments more effective by protecting the healthy cells from the effects of chemotherapy and leaving the malignant ones to be destroyed, thereby radically transitioning the archetypical process of treating the disease. VOR leased approximately 33,000 RSF, the entirety of the third floor at 100 Cambridgepark Drive, located a short distance from Alewife Station in Cambridge MA.

VIVO provided VOR with a facility that resonates with their core values—Passion, Fellowship, Humility. One of the interior’s notable features is its vibrancy, contributed by the creative use of their brand color palette, design elements, lighting, furniture, and custom graphics. The design features a series of open ‘neighborhoods’ connected through circulation and common amenities—a spacious break-out lounge with a view of the surrounding neighborhood, and a large dining hall with refreshment stations and a recreational area. There are even patios for additional meetings, collaboration, or simply unwinding. With height-adjustable desks and partitions, the workstations offer the privacy required for concentration while also keeping the way open for teamwork.

This VOR facility is notable for the effervescent nature of its interior design, complemented by elements like snow-flake shaped light fixtures adorning the Board Room ceiling, a vision wall featuring the firm’s core values, enclosed meeting rooms bearing names of the major Lord of the Rings characters, and much more, which make this project a significant addition to VIVO’s design portfolio. VIVO is currently adding more office, research and development, and light manufacturing spaces across two floors in the same building, making VOR the property’s anchor tenant.
