Inari Agriculture is a botany-focused research and development company with an emphasis on enhancing plants adaptability to diverse climate conditions. By 2018, with over 50 employees, they had outgrown their original headquarters and acquired a new location nearby. VIVO was brought in to provide comprehensive architectural planning services, with construction documentation and administration.
The VIVO team designed a state-of-the-art R&D lab with space for plant growth chambers and separate specialty labs. An expanded office area centers around a cluster of collaborative open offices with supporting conference, phone, and huddle rooms. Additionally, a new central staircase provides more direct internal access.
The facility also features a multi-purpose/multi-use functional area that can accommodate company-wide meetings of as many as 90 people with a theatre-style seating arrangement and an integrated AV system. With the help of adjustable partitions, the same area can quickly be broken down into separate conference rooms, each large enough for 16 to 26 people, and a fully functional break area with suitable sets of dining tables and chairs.

Founded in 2016, Inari Agriculture is a botany-focused research and development company with an emphasis on plant breeding, growth and production to enhance plants adaptability to existing diverse world-wide climate conditions. By 2018, with over 50 employees, Inari had outgrown their original quarters and their landlord, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, was able to offer another nearby Cambridge location suitable to their needs. VIVO was hired to provide comprehensive Architectural Planning Services, together with Construction Documentation and Administration.
Inari’s new location now accommodates a larger state-of-the-art R&D Lab with expanded space for plant growth chambers and separate individual specialty labs. The expanded office area centers around collaborative open office work areas with supporting Conference, Phone and Huddle Room facilities. As the layout is divided on two floors, a new contemporary communicating stair was designed to provide direct internal access.
Also central to the design is a multi-purpose/multi-use function area. As an all-open configuration, the space can accommodate company-wide meetings of 90 people with theatre style seating, while being supported by large screen distance/av media. As a divided configuration with movable partitions in place, the same area can quickly accommodate separate 16 to 26-person Conference Rooms, while simultaneously providing a fully functioning break area with dining-
style tables and seating.
